Privacy Policy

The short version
- You don't need an account, and the arcade never asks for your name, email or any other personal details.
- The arcade itself doesn't use cookies, and has no analytics or tracking tools of its own.
- The arcade shows ads from Google AdSense. Because kids play here, we ask Google to treat the arcade as made for children, which turns off personalized ads.
- Like every website, the arcade's host and the companies that deliver ads can see your internet address (IP address) when your browser connects.
- Games can save your progress in your own browser. That stays on your device.
- Questions? Contact us at the email below.
Who we are
RJ's Gamekade (“the arcade”, “we”, “us”) is a free website of games you play in your web browser. The arcade and its games are run by one person, the arcade's owner. You can reach us using the contact details at the bottom of this page.
Kids and families
The arcade is for everyone, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or from anyone else. The arcade has no accounts, no sign-ups, no comments and no chat.
Some games may ask for a nickname or a room code so you can play with friends. Please don't use your real name, and never share your address, phone number, school or other private details in a game.
If you are a parent or guardian and think your child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
What the arcade collects and stores
The arcade does not ask for, collect or store personal information. We do not sell or share personal information. We do not use analytics or tracking tools of our own.
- Cookies: the arcade itself sets none. (The ads do, see “Ads” below.)
- Sound setting: if you turn on the arcade's button sounds, your browser remembers that choice until you close the tab.
- Game progress: some games save your progress or settings in your browser's storage. This stays on your own device. You can clear it any time in your browser's settings.
- Multiplayer games: some games connect you to other players, directly or through a game server. When that happens, the people you play with, or the server, may be able to see your internet address. Only play with people you know and trust.
Where the arcade is hosted
The arcade is hosted by GitHub (GitHub Pages). When your browser loads the arcade, GitHub receives technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you ask for, and may keep logs. We don't receive those logs. You can read how GitHub handles information in its privacy statement.
The “online now” counter
The box in the top left of the home page shows how many people are in the arcade right now. To work it out, each open tab makes up a random code that is kept only in the tab's memory (not in cookies or storage), and sends that code and the time to a database run by Google (Firebase) every 45 seconds. The arcade counts the codes seen in the last two minutes. The code is deleted when you close or leave the tab, and any that are left behind disappear within a few minutes.
The code is random, contains nothing about you, and is not used for ads or to build a profile. As with any request over the internet, Google's servers can see your IP address when your browser contacts them.
Ads
The arcade shows ads delivered by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a person's earlier visits to a website or to other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners show ads to people based on their visits to sites across the internet.
Because children play here, we tell Google to treat every ad on the arcade as child-directed. Google says that for content marked this way it takes steps to turn off interest-based advertising and remarketing ads. Ads can still appear, but they are not meant to follow you around based on sites you have visited. Google and its partners may still use cookies or similar technology to deliver and measure ads. We don't control those, and they are covered by Google's own policies.
You can control personalized advertising across the web at Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some other companies' use of cookies for personalized ads at aboutads.info. To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its ad services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and Google's Privacy Policy.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you may see a message asking about your choices for ads and cookies. Your answer is stored by the ad service, not by the arcade.
How long information is kept
We do not keep personal information. The “online now” codes last only a few minutes. Information that GitHub, Google and ad companies receive is kept under their own policies.
Your choices and rights
You can block or delete cookies and stored game data in your browser's settings, and you can use the opt-out links in the “Ads” section. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask what information a website holds about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. Because we don't collect personal information, there is usually nothing to look up, but you are welcome to ask.
Links to other sites
This page links to other websites, such as Google and GitHub. We are not responsible for how other websites handle information, so please read their policies.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the arcade works in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
